Today I wanted to post an article I read on how to rank your website high with Google. I'm doing this in conjunction with a new program I subscribed to called SpinSuccess.

I'm always on the look out for tools that will grow my Internet business and this is proving to be the best one yet. Here's the article about Google that shows the importance of Search Engine Optimization.

To rank high on Google, your website has to be measured by “500 million variables and 2 billion terms” of Google’s equation, as stated on Google’s Corporate Information Technology Overview page.

Google’s ranking system is based on a democracy, and the citizens are the links on the worldwide web that vote for each other. Not unlike our government today, many of these “links” are paid for, and some are of greater value. Ranking high on Google is playing politics.

Links and Keywords are the key players in the ranking game. Google also takes into consideration the full content of the page including HTML codes, fonts, subdivisions and the “precise location of each word.”

Links are votes. You must develop a link strategy. Google likes linking things together. Create a rich network of links with distinct quality content. Your website must have quality links going out and coming in.

Quality is the key word. Links from reputable pages (which ironically includes .gov pages) are given more weight than links on “link farm” pages. Linking to a “link farm” is one of the worst things you can do and can potentially get your deported off the web. The better the links, the better your ranking.

Google will factor in your page content and the content of the pages you link to. Do your research. Google has a free page rank tool on their toolbar. Use it to find out the page ranking and visit the site.

Google also gives more weight to one-way links that lead to your site, and less weight to reciprocal links. How do you get these? Buy them. List yourself in a reputable directory listing. Make sure you are listed in the Open Directory Project (DMOZ.org). If you can’t buy links, write good content.

Give someone a reason to link to your site. Again, the keyword is Quality. Submitting articles and press releases are also strategies in the linking game.

Keywords are your platform. They are what you stand for. Words count. Graphics don’t. Make sure your words are not in graphic form and make sure you have relevant titles under your graphics. Start with your title tag. Put everything you stand for in ten words or less.

Make your URLs short and keyword specific. Brand yourself. If you type in soda, Mountain Dew will not show up on the first page. If you type in Mountain Dew, it will be on the first page. Brand yourself so users know what they are searching for. Do not put the same words in every heading and every tag. Be descriptive. Sell yourself. There are multitudes of free keyword rank and suggestion tools. Use them as a supplement to your knowledge of your company.

Think of every element in your website as words and pages in a presentation that is going to be up for a vote. Does everything fit? Is it all related? Are you a reputable company with a quality product? Does it sell? Now sell it. Google is waiting for you.

Introduction To Social Networking

Social network theory views social relationships in terms of nodes and ties. Nodes are the individual actors within the networks, and ties are the relationships between the actors. There can be many kinds of ties between the nodes. In its most simple form, a social network is a map of all of the relevant ties between the nodes being studied. The network can also be used to determine the social capital of individual actors. These concepts are often displayed in a social network diagram, where nodes are the points and ties are the lines.

The shape of the social network helps determine a network's usefulness to its individuals. Smaller, tighter networks can be less useful to their members than networks with lots of loose connections (weak ties) to individuals outside the main network. More "open" networks, with many weak ties and social connections, are more likely to introduce new ideas and opportunities to their members than closed networks with many redundant ties. In other words, a group of friends who only do things with each other already share the same knowledge and opportunities. A group of individuals with connections to other social worlds is likely to have access to a wider range of information. It is better for individual success to have connections to a variety of networks rather than many connections within a single network. Similarly, individuals can exercise influence or act as brokers within their social networks by bridging two networks that are not directly linked (called filling structural holes).

Degrees of Separation and the Global Social Network

The small world phenomenon is the hypothesis that the chain of social acquaintances required to connect one arbitrary person to another arbitrary person anywhere in the world is generally short. The concept gave rise to the famous phrase six degrees of separation after a 1967 small world experiment by psychologist Stanley Milgram. In Milgram's experiment, a sample of US individuals were asked to reach a particular target person by passing a message along a chain of acquaintances. The average length of successful chains turned out to be about five intermediaries or six separation steps (the majority of chains in that study actually failed to complete). Academic researchers continue to explore this phenomenon. Judith Kleinfeld has written an article that points out the many problems with the original Milgram research. A recent electronic Small World experiment at Columbia University showed that about five to seven degrees of separation are sufficient for connecting any two people through e-mail.

Internet social networks

The first social networking website was Classmates.com, which began in 1995 and used the Old Boy Network method of social networking. Other sites followed, including SixDegrees.com, which began in 1997 using the Web of Contacts model. The year 1999 saw the development of two competing models of social networking, the Circle of Trust developed by Epinions and utilised by Ciao.com, Dooyoo and ToLuna and the Circle of Friends developed by Jonathan Bishop, which was utilised on a number of regional UK sites between 1999 and 2001 and flourished with the advent of a website called Friendster in 2002.

This is now one of the most dominant methods of social networking in virtual communities, perhaps for the reason that it gives the user control rather than being computer controlled. There were over 50 social networking sites using the Circle of Friends in 2005 when one such online community, MySpace, was getting more page views than Google. Google has a social network called Orkut, launched in 2004.

Social networking began to be seen as a component of internet strategy at around the same time: in March 2005 Yahoo launched Yahoo! 360°, their entry into the field, and in July 2005 News Corporation bought Circle of Friends-based MySpace followed by ITV buying Old-Boys Network-based Friends Reunited in December that year. It is estimated that combined there are now over 200 social networking sites using these existing and emerging social networking models.

In these communities, an initial set of founders sends out messages inviting members of their own personal networks to join the site. New members repeat the process, growing the total number of members and links in the network. Sites then offer features such as automatic address book updates, viewable profiles, the ability to form new links through "introduction services," and other forms of online social connections. Social networks can also be organized around business connections, as in the case of LinkedIn.

Blended networking is an approach to social networking that combines both offline elements (face-to-face events) and online elements. MySpace, for example, builds on independent music and party scenes, and Facebook was originally designed to mirror a college community, though it has since expanded its scope to include high school, job-related, and regional networks. The newest social networks on the Internet are becoming more focused on niches such as travel, art, tennis, football (soccer), golf, cars, dog owners, and even cosmetic surgery.

Most of the social networks on the internet are public, allowing anyone to join. Organizations, such as large companies, also have access to private social networking applications, known as Enterprise Relationship Management. They install these applications on their own servers and enable employees to share their networks of contacts and relationships to outside people and companies.

A recent development of social network is the integration of marketplace element in it, known as the Social Marketplace.

There are many discussions as to where social networking is headed next. The advent of the Internet has enabled informal social networks to connect with people globally and with time shifting (through email), although in practice, most interactions are with people who live and work nearby.

A new type of social network are links between web pages. These can be studied in their own right (i.e., where are the hubs?) and as links between individual web pages in social software where individuals begin with their address book, and expand their network by adding friends, "friendster" acquaintances and imaginary friends. This creates connectivity through being discovered through friends of friends, etc. Future applications may allow for discovering the social networks of others by stumbling upon them.

GIBLINE President Explains Revenue Sharing Plan

GIBLINE continues to grow rapidly even though it is still in its development stage.

I recently found this link to a video from GIBLINE president Ron Snodgrass. He does a great job explaining the 4 different revenue sharing opportunities that GIBLINE offers.

In the video Ron briefly mentions the GIBLINE revenue sharing and says it is the most exciting part of the revenue structure. He is absolutely right. Here are a few more details about the GIBLINE revenue system.

Basically its a straight line compensation plan where NOBODY GETS LEFT BEHIND.

The pay structure is a definite first in the business where everybody makes money regardless if they sponsor anybody or not. How is this possible? A unique straight line system so that everybody helps everybody, no matter who sponsored them in. Anytime 5 people come in, anywhere in the world, to the one line structure, the person on the top cycles and then re-enters at the bottom.

Basically, everyone takes their turn getting paid, but are also automatically re-entered into the next highest level each time too. It doubles every cycle, starting at $50, then $100, $200, $400, etc.

Timing is of the essence. Don't get me wrong, this program will be amazing no matter when you join, simply because every 3 months everyone re-enters to keep it all moving. To state this in other terms, by coming in at the Pro level, the 2 additional positions or "pods" that you purchase take the place of 2 personal referrals. These positions are treated as if you referred 2 members yourself.

If you've been involved with Internet marketing in the past you can easily see that no other program has offered such an exciting payment structure. Conference Call Sacked Again

The official GIBLINE launch was supposed to take place on last night's conference call, October 15th.

For the second time in its month long history, there was such an overwhelming response to the conference call that the servers went down again, and the owners were unable to make the official announcement.

There were tens and possibly hundreds of thousands of attempting to get in on the conference call at the same time. This is a true testament to GIBLINE'S mass appeal. Timothy Johnson, Director of communications for GIBLINE said there were prospects from over 145 countries trying to get in on the call.

From the beginning, GIBLINE has claimed there has never before been anything like GIBLINE. This thing has the potential of being a global phenomenon, much like FaceBook or MySpace. There is definitely something appealing about a community of business minded people all working together to grow each other's business.

What Forbes Magazine Says About GIBLINE

GIBLINE Website Ranking Takes Big Leap

GIBLINE is really creating quite a buzz, especially as it inches closer to launching.

One of the factors I always consider when deciding on joining a program or not is its website ranking. Obviously if a site is getting a lot of traffic you can pretty much bank on it being a legitimate opportunity.

The general rule among Internet marketers is that if a site is in the top 50,000 it's definitely worth consideration. If it's in the top 10,000 you've got a clearly defined winner. Remember, there are literally millions of websites in cyberspace, so getting into the top 10,000 is quite a feat.

I've been keeping an eye on GIBLINE and am excited to report that it has nearly broken into the top 10,000. As I'm writing this GIBLINE came in at 10,203.

One bit of clarification. At the top, you'll see an initial ranking of 85,328. This is because Alexa uses a three month average in figuring out a website's popularity. GIBLINE has only been on the market since early September, 2007.

To get the true ranking, scroll down the page to traffic rank for GIBLINE.com and it will give you yesterday's ranking as well as the 1 week average, both numbers hovering around the 10,000 mark.

Last week when I checked these numbers it was in the 20,000 range. GIBLINE has jumped 10,000 spots in one week. It's moving fast and people are joining at a rate of 1,000 a day.

If you've read my earlier posts, I hope you've been able to see the benefits of affiliate marketing. It's really the best route for the novice Internet business seeker. But how can you determine which program is right for you?

The first thing to keep in mind is there are quite a few scams out there. There aren't nearly as many as the critics would like you to believe, but they are there. I've even fell for a couple myself.

To avoid being scammed, do a little research first.

1. Find out what third party sources are saying about them:
what are mainstream business magazines saying about them? Are
their revenues growing, flat, or on the decline?

2. What is the main company's website rank? A company whose
web site is in the top 50,000 worldwide is a pretty safe bet.
If it's in the top 10,000, you're about guaranteed that you're
dealing with a legitimate deal. If you don't know how to check
the popularity of a web page, you can download and install the
Alexa toolbar.

For example, one of my main income makers is Global Domains International(GDI). To find out if they were legit, I simply "Google" searched them and carefully scrutinized the results.

Here's some of what I learned:

I did a quick search by clicking on the "traffic rankings" link at the top of the page and typing in "http://website.ws".

Today "http://website.ws" ranks 9511. Remember, any ranking in the top 50,000 pretty much solidifies a website as the real deal.

GDI's website ranking along with the third party accolades from ENTREPRENEUR and INC 500 convinced me I was dealing with a real business opportunity. With confidence, I joined GDI and haven't regretted it since.

My previous post highlighted the importance of really examining whether or not you are ready to pursue a home business. The article from Stone Evans pointed out the importance of self-discipline, self-motivation and most of all, persistence.

There are all kinds of ways to stay motivated. You can join home business forums where like-minded people meet to discuss their endeavors or seek Internet marketing advice. There's a lot you can learn from these forums. You can also read trade journals dealing with your area of focus. These trade journals, like REVENUE(a magazine dedicated to affiliate marketing), are filled with success stories from ordinary people like you and me. These positive vibe stories keep the fire burning.

One book I've read that changed my life is Napoleon Hill's classic book, THINK AND GROW RICH. This book has literally helped millions to achieve their dreams. When you work at home, it will empower you to achieve many things you were unable to do when you were stuck working for that tyrant boss. Remember him? He's the guy that wouldn't let you take time off when your baby was sick...the same guy that called you in to work on Thanksgiving Day.

A home business means that you can take good care of your family and make money from home, simultaneously. You will have the best of both worlds! Just think--no more dirty laundry piling up--you can do it while you work. No more scurrying around at the last minute searching for a babysitter either. And no more worrying about getting fired; you'll be the boss!


IN CONCLUSION...

Stay positive and focused on your home based business, even if, when sales aren't up to par, you get occasional negative remarks or derogatory comments from people with stuffy, dead-end jobs. Ignore their cutting words and bear in mind that success is the best revenge! Keep your admirable, positive attitude at the forefront and show them what you're made of!
